Using funding from outside organizations and in collaboration with Sahand University of Technology and Chemical Engineering Faculty of Sahand University of Technology, Environmental Engineering Research Center (EERC) was established in April 2000. Most of the major environmental research projects of interest to industry are conducted in EERC. In addition to the environmental lab and pilot facility, EERC uses analytical and workshop facilities of the faculty of Chemical Engineering to expedite research projects. Tabriz as a major industrial center in Iran and some important industrial centers in the region play a major role in success of research in EERC. In addition to the in-house facilities, EERC enjoys the collaboration of some major research centers such as RIPI (Research Institute of Petroleum Industry) through collaboration protocols and memoranda of understanding.
